Did you ever wonder what it means ?
convito meaning

Nancy Brussat & daughter Candace Barocci Warner wanted to clarify after many customers have been inquiring... What does "Convito" actually mean?!

Convito is an ancient Italian word signifying banquet or feast. The noun means banquet, the verb convitare means to invite to dinner.

It appears in the Cambridge Italian dictionary:
Convito: noun, masculine (il convito)= dinner party, banquet

It has also been described as "a high level gathering of nobles". It relates to the English "convivial – the idea of "conviviality".

Our Convito was founded to accommodate the increasing American appreciation of the subtle pleasures of classic Italian cooking. We opened our doors in September 1980 as a market essentially selling all the ingredients for an Italian meal, which matched our name perfectly.

Nancy's original Italian partner, Paolo Volpara designed our logo with his Leo Burnett advertising agency's art director in Milan, Italy. It features two hands crossed over one another – one holding a glass of wine and the other a fork centered under a stylized grape leaf. An ancient Renaissance octagon pattern encases the center design. Deep sienna and bright rust warmly highlights the white of the hands and the grape leaf.

So there. Now you know.

Cin cin!
